Survivable Multi-commodity Network Flow Design; Case of Node Capacities and Arc Failure
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper was concerned with the problem of designing a survivable multicommodity network with node capacities, which is about selecting a set of fixed-charge arcs in order to build a survivable network with minimum cost and satisfied flow requirements. The system is subject to failure and capacity restriction. Failure is defined as simultaneous failure of arcs. To solve the problem, first, a mixed integer linear program was introduced. Afterward, an appropriate Benders decomposition (BD) method was developed. Then, a theorem was stated in order to obtain the optimality condition for a certain scenario. Finally, in order to reduce the number of iterations of using the BD approach, a new strategy was proposed. Using this strategy, the length of time required for solving the problem was reduced by 30%on average.

A Fast Strategy to Find Solution for Survivable Multicommodity Network
This paper proposes an immediately efficient method, based on Benders Decomposition (BD), for solving the survivable capacitated network design problem. This problem involves selecting a set of arcs for building a survivable network at a minimum cost and within a satisfied flow. The system is subject to failure and capacity restriction. To solve this problem, the BD was initially proposed with ...
متن کاملSurvivable Network Coding
Given a telecommunication network, modeled by a graph with capacities, we are interested in comparing the behavior and usefulness of two information propagation schemes, namely multicast and network coding, when the aforementioned network is subject to single arc failure. We consider the case with a single source node and a set of terminal nodes. The problem of studying the maximum quantity of ...

متن کاملAn Approach to Solving the Survivable Capacitated Network Design Problem
Survivability refers to keeping a system partially or fully operational when one or more of its components fail. Survivability in telecommunication networks is crucial, as failure of a network component can potentially bring down the whole communication network, as happened in some real-world cases. Adding redundant network components increases the survivability of a network, but cost of the ne...
